Cycling: Wandle Trail and SE London
It’s a beautiful sunny weekend in London so I figured it was time to take the bike out for a spin a year after the broken ankle. I found a group ride with London Bike and Beer Group, which I heard plugged at a Women and Cycling event at the Feminist Library awhile ago.

Cycling: Brentwood Kenter Climb
Corinne and I went for a bike ride to day to see how I would fair on my first climb. We headed up San Vicente before we turned onto Bundy up into the Brentwood hills. Our goal was to bike the Mt. Saint Mary’s route, which is “the easiest Brentwood climb”.
It didn’t pan out that way for us as we quickly got onto the Kenter climb by mistake. We didn’t realize this until we had suffered up multiple hills far harder than we were anticipating. As I struggled up the first hill, I realized I had made a huge mistake. I said to myself “Do you want to be a person who quits?” No! So I got up that god damn hill. But then there were like three more and they were even harder and I walked my bike up to the top. Why do people do this?!
Yucatán: Biking to Cenotes
The hostel in Valladolid suggested a route to local cenotes that could be biked to in a loop. I had planned on visiting two of these subterranean swimming holes by bike, but their 30 km route to four cenotes, passing through a bunch of surrounding pueblos was like a godsend. Best thing I did the entire trip, holy cow.
Cycling: Venice to Torrance
It took me a little under 3 hours for the entire trip, which was about 35 miles. The bike path runs along the sand for most of the way, except for a few areas where it switches to the roads. I went really early at 7am so as to avoid the pedestrians. That worked out really well except it was foggy and freezing cold the entire way.
